The hope and wistfulness of Spring leads us into the joy and fruition of Summer. I’ve started working towards long-term goals and dreams with a new purpose. So what better to keep me in tune with the energy of the seasons than a few timely affirmations?
Affirmations are short phrases you can repeat (preferably aloud) whenever you need to believe something or bring a certain energy into your life. They are saying nice things are going to happen until you make them happen. Let’s experiment!
At the beginning of February, I quit my job in retail. It was making my depression and anxiety the worst they’d ever been. I’d been signed off as ill for 2 weeks over the Christmas period, and it created a deeper feeling of disconnection from my team than before. My manager sat me down to tell me how selfish I was and the arguments that broke out as a result of my sick leave. I was so, so glad to be out of there, but now I had no money. I’m a firm believer in treating yourself to little things that will bring you happiness, so when I had to ban myself from spending even £2 on a tumble stone it was almost painful. And then, over a couple of weeks, I came to realise how much I rely on buying stuff to keep my spiritual practice alive.
Everyone can be a witch. Maybe everyone is a witch. There are countless different paths, levels of devotion, and areas of study, but there’s really only one thing you have to do: call yourself a witch, and you are one. Just like that. Just like magic.
You don’t have to claim the title, but you can start living with more intention. Realise that some things you already do, with a little more good intent and awareness, can be magical. The more I think about it, I realise more and more things I’ve been doing since childhood that take on more powerful meanings under the awareness I bring to them thanks to my craft. But here are 6 things that almost everyone has done, and continues to do, that are actually pretty witchy.
